As I watched the news of the wildfires raging through Gatlinburg, Tennessee, it was more than “news” to me.

As a resident of Western North Carolina, I ride my Ducati Multistrada through that area on a regular basis. I have friends who own cabins in and around Gatlinburg.

One friend lost two cabins and is waiting on word about the possible loss of a third. Yet despite the devastation, God’s presence can still be felt – if you look for it:

Isaac McCord, a local, was helping with the clean up around Dollywood Park when he came across a Bible page that was badly burned. As he looked at the words on the page, his eyes came to Joel 1:19:

To you, LORD, I call, for fire has devoured the pastures in the wilderness and flames have burned up all the trees of the field.
